About Me

Hi, I'm Fred. I'm a sailor originally from a small town in northern Massachusetts, and after that mostly living in New York City. I grew up sailing on a tidal saltwater river near my home in small boats and beach cats. In 2002, I did a semester at sea on a 131-foot schooner that set off a lifelong love of sailing and a dream of taking off someday on my own long-distance cruise. I started sailing again in 2019, when I was living in the San Francisco Bay Area. I lived aboard my Columbia 8.3 when the pandemic started in early 2020, until moving back to New York City in summer 2020. There, I sailed an Islander 40 all around New England, participating in local and national-level races on my own boat and as crew on other boats.

I'm a technology lawyer by trade, and practice remotely from my sailboat. I've also been a race car driver, a world traveler, an amateur photographer, and a jewelry artist.
